Vietnamese President Praises the Updating of Cuban Economic Model
Vietnamese president, Truong Tan Sang praised today the results of the updating process of the Cuban economic model and perspectives opened to put the bilateral commercial relations at the same level of political ones.
During the opening ceremony of a business forum with representatives of finance, trade and industry of the two countries, Tan Sang stated that the transformations carried out by the island will ensure a stable and sustained development.
In this regard he invited the agencies and ministries of Cuba and Vietnam to greater exchange and approach to make best use of the potential and correct decisions taken by the Cuban government, in order to expand ties in all sectors.
In this regard, he commented that there are many Vietnamese business men interested in investing in telecommunications, tourism, oil and gas, infrastructure construction and food production, as they consider that there are potential and additional conditions.
The visitor mentioned the positive results of joint agricultural programs, particularly in rice production have allowed Cuba to decrease from 450,000 to 300,000 tons the imports of that grain,which supports the current negotiations for the cultivation of soybean and corn.
Regarding commercial exchange he said that is still modest because in 2014 represented hardly 200 million dollars, so he urged to emphasize in new projects , particularly investments in infrastructure and production of consumer goods.
In his speech, Tan Sang also congratulated Cuba for the re-establishment of relations with the US, which in his opinion is the result of a very dynamic foreign policy that has managed to cope with the economic, financial and commercial blockade and open new perspectives to the Cuban people.
Cuban Vice President Ricardo Cabrisas, insisted in his welcoming remarks on the need to expand cooperation relations with creative formulas, which will allow the use of the experiences of the Cuban updating model and renewal of the Vietnamese for which, he said, there will policy.
