Argentine Foreign Minister Calls for End of US Blockade vs Cuba

cuba_argentina_timermanArgentine Foreign Minister Hector Tinmerman called today here for the end of US blockade against Cuba and the return of the territory that is illegally occupied by the United States” naval base in Guantanamo, Cuba.

Tinmerman, who carries out an official visit, held talks today with his Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodriguez and signed with him a memorandum of understanding establishing a Mechanism for Consultation between the two countries to manage issues of mutual interest.

Tinmerman was welcomed at the Cuban Foreign Ministry by Rodriguez and they both, along with their respective delegations, held talks to review a large agenda of issues.

Rodriguez praised the excellent bilateral relations and the actions taken by Argentina in the international scene, while expressing Cuba’s support for the cause of Argentina’s sovereignty over the Malvinas Islands.

Tinmerman appreciated the welcome he was given in Cuba and highlighted that the meeting was held on a very important occasion like the anniversary of Ernesto Guevara’s birth.

He also praised the role played by Cuba in the process of Latin American and the Caribbean integration and agreed with Rodriguez that ties between Argentina and Cuba are excellent.

Tinmerman said that during his visit in Cuba he will tackle along with his Cuban counterpart issues of regional and world interest, including those related to the necessary changes in international organizations.
