New South African President will Address the Nation this Friday

An official note explains that Zuma’s resignation left empty the office of the President that will be occupied by the Vicepresident as established by the Constitution and his designation must be confirmed today in an extraordinary session of the national parliament.

Ramaphosa is the leader of governing African National Congress (ANC) and occupied since 2014 the Vicepresidency of South Africa.

The parliament president, Baleka Mbete, announced the procedure will be carried out this afternoon and after his approval, the new President will address the Nation tomorrow.

The words of the new President should include his main future perspectives as head of the State and Government, will be followed on Monday by a debate with the participation of the deputies from all the parties represented in the legislative organ.

After the speech to the Nation, which initially was programmed for February 8 by Zuma and postponed as he asked after the protests of the opposition that claimed for a postponement, the Minister of Finance, Malusi Gigaba will make known the national budget next February 21.
