Cuba Denounces Media Manipulation on Venezuela

In a message to the editor of CBC News, Cuban Ambassador to Canada Josefina Vidal assures that such a statement is ‘a scandalous slander’.

The diplomat recalls that more than 20,000 Cubans are rendering their services in Venezuela, 94 percent of whom are healthcare workers and the others work in other sectors like education.

She accuses CBC News of repeating the thesis of US President Donald Trump, who accused Cuba of maintaining a private army in Venezuela, without producing any evidence.

It is regrettable that that media organization does not denounce the plans of military aggression by the White House against the South American country and its strategy to destroy the Cuban Revolution, Vidal points out.

In that regard, she recalls that US National Security Advisor John Bolton organized a coup d’état against then Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez in 2002.

We expect that CBC News does not support the US aggression against the peoples of our Americas and then apologizes, as many media organizations had to do after the war against Iraq, the Cuban ambassador underlines.
