Panamanian Trade Unions Demand End of Blockade against Cuba

The document accuses US legislation Helms-Burton Act and other forming the US economic, commercial and financial blockade of violating international law and peaceful coexistence.

This same week another trade union, the Authentic Federation of Workers (FAT) of Panama, repudiated the US blockade against Cuba, through a public letter addressed to President Donald Trump, a document they also delivered to the US diplomatic mission in this capital.

FAT recalled that the United Nations repeatedly rejected and demanded the end of the blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba, and highlighted multiple times the right of countries to their self-determination and sovereignty, and asked for respect for ‘the brave people of Cuba, who chose the path to socialism.

The document also rejected the activation of the Title III of the Helms-Burton Act, which increased aggression against Cuba and its economy, while trying to condemn “millions of men and women to the lack of medicines, food and other supplies necessary to exercise the right to live”.
